Review: Acure Shaving Gel, Dry Shampoo, and Cleansing Towelettes

Acure Foaming Shaving Gel*

Price: $8.99

There are two types of people in the world - those that use shaving gels and those that use whatever soap they have lying around. I'm one of the latter, but I did enjoy using this. The chamomile and cucumber scent is very refreshing. The packaging is pretty and the dispenser is easy to use. Press the nozzle and it pumps out. You don't need very much to shave because the product is actually a bit liquidy. I would say it's in between a liquid and cream, and not really a foam.

There aren't a whole lot of natural shaving products out there, so if you've been missing your Skintimate, then I suggest you try this! Otherwise, I don't think it's something that you need to try if you don't already have a preference for shaving gels.

Acure Dry Shampoo*

Previously, I've tried the Zabana Essentials Dry Shampoo which came in May's Petit Vour box. I'm a fan of shampoo so I haven't tested either of these dry shampoos too rigorously, but they seem to produce comparable results in the few times that I used them. Both are powders and both will absorb oil. The Zabana one has a slight coconut scent and the Acure one just smells like corn starch.

I think the main difference is the packaging. Zabana Essentials comes with a nozzle which is probably the most efficient way to use a powder dry shampoo. Acure's has this strange nozzle puff thing that seems to aspire to make the product into a dry shampoo spray. You squeeze the bottle and it disperses the product into your hair. It actually disperses pretty evenly, but it's annoying to have to squeeze the bottle which is a hard plastic. And it makes the most obnoxious squeaking sound! I felt like I was doing something wrong, but a peek at the reviews on the Acure website was reaffirming. People seem to hate this packaging. If you don't want to bother, you can twist off the cap and pour the powder out, but at that point, I would rather use the Zabana one.

I don't think Acure's dry shampoo is bad. It works fine, but the packaging is not great.

Acure Unscented Argan Cleansing Towelettes

Price: $6.99

Ok, so I wasn't blown away by the shaving gel or dry shampoo but I love these makeup wipes (well they're technically for face and body but I use them on my face).

They remove makeup without leaving any sticky residue behind, so these would be perfect to freshen up mid-day or to cleanse your face if you're having a rough night. The wipes do sting my eyes a little bit, but not as bad as some others I've tried. Although these are unscented, they have a subtle smell, which I'm guessing is from the olive oil and argan oil. 30 wipes per pack and you can find them at Target!

Overall, not holy grail status because I'd still prefer something that doesn't sting my eyes, but they're the best I've found yet.
