Review: Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo & Conditioner
Desert Essence has been one of my favorite brands for transitioning to green beauty.
They are affordable, natural, cruelty-free, and vegan friendly.
Here, I review the coconut haircare for dry hair.
Read on for some pros/cons.
Cost: $3.97
First off, I need to point out the cost.
It's $3.97 a tube on Vitacost / $6 on iHerb.
I would hesitate to pay the full retail price ($8.99) but you should definitely give it a try for its online price!
It holds up to the drugstore products, while being non-toxic and vegan :)
Desert Essence Coconut Shampoo
This lathers and cleanses well but is not sulfate free. In lieu of SLS, it has sodium coco sulfate.
Not color safe. DE has a color-safe line, but I haven't tried it.
Has synthetic fragrance. I'm not a coconut fan, but the scent didn't bother me because it's not super intense.
The packaging kinda sucks. The hard plastic tubes can be difficult to squeeze and for some reason, I had more trouble squeezing out the shampoo than the conditioner. I ended up switching it into a travel container and when I did that, it seperated. Still usable, not a big deal, but thought I should note that.
Desert Essence Coconut Conditioner
This conditions enough to get me by, but I do have to supplement it with other products, like a weekly hair mask. If you have very dry/dyed hair don't expect any miracles. My hair feels soft after I wash it, but by the 2nd day, it feels dry again. I appreciate that it's silicone-free, but it didn't moisturize as well as I'd like.
I have to use a lot of the conditioner to make my hair feel adequately saturated. The tube lasted ~3 months, but that's relatively short for me (I've heard some people go through these monthly though, so it really depends).
Also has synthetic fragrance.
-->EDIT: I have since tried Acure's shampoo and conditioner which I prefer to Desert Essence! Read my review of it, here.
Overall
Not holy grail status, but works well for the price.
If your hair is just a little dry, you'll probably like this.
Great for those on a budget or transitioning to natural/CF/vegan products.

ReplyDeleteThere are other sub-characterizations, yet these are pointless and befuddling. The distinction basically lies in the measure of oil (lanolin, normal or mineral oil) added to them. hair growth conditioner
ReplyDeleteIn the event that there are no conditioners accessible any longer, or just to keep away from synthetic compounds for a change, regular conditioners like mayonnaise or olive oil can be utilized as a substitute. biotin shampoo and conditioner

ReplyDeleteAloe Vera gel is the best alternative for shaving legs. It's not only shaves the legs perfectly but also moisturizes them. Aloe gel also makes the skin fair after shaving legs with aloe vera gel
